Services for authors
Editing and ghostwriting for self-publishing authors and business owners. Story-level work first, polish last, and every judgment call comes back to you.
Editing
- Manuscript critique
- An editorial letter on your whole book: what works, what doesn't, and what to fix first, with chapter-by-chapter notes. A good place to start. Up to 100,000 words, about a week.
- Developmental editing
- Plot, structure, character, pacing, continuity, and setups that need payoffs. An editorial letter plus comments in your manuscript.
- Line editing
- Sentence-level suggestions for flow, voice, clarity, and repetition, in tracked changes. You accept or reject each one, so your text stays yours.
- Copyediting and proofreading
- Grammar, punctuation, consistency, dialogue formatting, and a style sheet; then a final check of the finished file.
- Full edit
- All four stages in order, with an editor's sign-off at each stage.
Ghostwriting
- Genre fiction
- From your idea or outline to a finished 60,000 to 90,000-word novel, delivered in chapter batches, with a full revision round on your notes.
- Nonfiction
- Interview-based books for experts and business owners: outline, written interviews, a full draft, and a revision round. Book proposals available.
How we work
- AI-assisted, human-directed. We use AI tools for much of the first-pass drafting and editing. A human editor directs every project and reviews and signs off every deliverable before it reaches you.
- Your manuscript is never used to train AI models. Our AI provider account is set so that our content is not used for model training.
- We tell you what that means for publishing. Ghostwritten drafts count as AI-generated text under Amazon's current rules, which you must disclose on KDP, and copyright protection for AI-generated text may be limited. We explain this in plain terms before you sign.
- Everything in writing. A written proposal with scope, timeline, and price, and a signed agreement before any work starts.
- Limited capacity. We take on a small number of projects at a time.
We do not take work from authors whose publisher, employer, or institution does not allow generative AI, and we do not disguise AI-generated text.
